Contactless Curbside Pickup
The Library will be offering contactless curbside pick up for materials starting on Wednesday, June 17!

Visit your online library account to request materials and then sign up for a pick up time either by calling the library (508-393-5025, x. 6) or by using our online registration form. To see only curbside pickup times, select Curbside Pickup from the drop down menu that says All Events near the center left at the top of the page.

Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 10am - 3pm and Friday: 11am - 3pm

What you can request:
Only items from Northborough's collection (as well as as any items that were already on the hold shelf prior to the library's closure in March) will be available for pick up at this time as the statewide delivery service has not yet resumed for holds. You can request specific items or ask library staff for recommendations.

You can request up to 20 items (including up to 10 DVDs and 5 video games) by phone, by email, or through your online library account. If requesting items online, please ensure that they are actually available at Northborough (that we own them, that they are not checked out, etc.).

If you request items online, you also need to sign up for a pickup time (see below for more info). If you come to the library without signing up for a pickup time, your items may not be ready for you.

What we'll do with your items:
All items will be pulled by library staff wearing gloves, checked out on your account, and then placed in a bag with your name on it.

All items will be checked out for 3 weeks. Starting on July 2, you will receive an automatic notification that your items are ready for pick up if there is an email address associated with your library account, but you will still need to reserve a pickup time before coming to get them. The automatic ready for pick up notfication only means that your items are available, but they won't be processed and actually be "ready" for curbside pickup until you have signed up for a pickup time. Please note that before July 2 you will not receive a separate notification that your materials are "ready for pick up". Once you have requested your materials and signed up for a pickup time, that is all you need to do - your items will be ready for pickup by your chosen time window.

How to pick up your items:
You will need to sign up for a time window to come to the library to pick up your items. You can sign up by phone or through our online registration form. The following time windows will be available:
Monday-Thursday:                                                     Friday:
10am -11am                                                               11am - 12pm
11am - 12pm                                                              12pm -12:50pm
12pm - 12:50pm                                                         1:05pm - 2pm
1:05pm - 2pm                                                             2pm - 3pm
2pm - 3pm

There will be 30 slots available each day Monday - Thursday and 24 slots available each Friday. You may come anytime during the hour long time period you signed up for to pick up your items. Any hold requests must be received by 1pm the day before your desired pick up date otherwise they will not be ready until the day following that (i.e. requests received by 1pm on Tuesday will be available for pick up on Wednesday and any requests received after 1pm on Tuesday will be available for pick up on Thursday). For any pick ups on Mondays, requests must be received by 1pm on the Friday before.

Please sign up for your pickup time with the name that your holds are placed under. If you are planning to pick up holds for multiple family members at once, please either call (508-393-5025, x.6) or email library staff to let us know the list of names whose holds you will be picking up so we can ensure that you get all of your items.

What to do when you arrive to pick up your items:
Please call 508-393-1501, x.6 to let staff know you are here for your pick up, and please wait in your vehicle. If the phones are busy (as may happen during peak pickup times), please keep trying, and we will answer your call as soon as we can. We will ask you the make, model, and color of your vehicle and give you instructions on what to do. If you are coming to the library on foot, please let staff know this when you call, and you will be instructed to back up behind a line marked on the library parking lot.

Library staff will then bring your bagged items outside, leave them on a table located near the main entrance of the library, and will then return to the building. Once staff are back in the building, you may get our of your car (or walk up to the building if on foot) and take your items from the table. The pick up table will be wiped down and disinfected by library staff between each pickup.

If you miss your pickup time window, please contact us to reschedule. If we don't hear anything from you after you miss a pick up, we will hold your items for 2 days, after which they will be checked in and returned to the shelves.

What to do with returns:
We will also be opening the outdoor book drops and begin accepting returns of library materials starting on Wednesday, June 17. All returns must go in the book drops. We will not be accepting any returns at the holds pick up table. If you have a big or bulky item to return that won't fit in the book drop, please contact library staff, and we will let you know how you should handle that return.

Thank you for your patience while we are starting up this new service. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!

What do I do with the library books I have at home?

We will be opening the outdoor book drops and begin accepting returns of library materials starting on Wednesday, June 17. All returns must go in the book drops. We will not be accepting any returns at the holds pick up table. If you have a big or bulky item to return that won't fit in the book drop, please contact library staff, and we will let you know how you should handle that return.

I already returned my library items, so why are they still showing up on my account?
We are quarantining all returns for a period of 72 hours before checking them in per guidance from the Massachusetts Library System and the MA Board of Library Commissioners. Also, due to the volume of returns we are currerntly receiving, it is taking longer than normal for us to process them. This means that it may take several days between when you return your items and when they are actually checked in. If you have any questions about any of your items, please feel free to contact library staff.

What about overdue fines and fees?
Any items returned after June 17 will automatically have any fines associated with them waived upon check in. If you have questions about any fines on your account, please contact library staff, and we will be happy to help.
